WeChat is a Chinese instant messaging, social media and mobile payment application developed by Tencent. First released in 2011, it became the world's largest standalone mobile app by 2018, with more than one billion monthly active users, and is often described as China's all purpose super app. It provides text and hold to talk voice messaging, one to many broadcast messaging, video conferencing, video games, mobile payment, photo and video sharing, and location sharing.
