Top Ramen is an American brand of instant ramen noodles made by Nissin Foods, introduced in 1970 as the company's effort to establish itself in the United States market following the worldwide success of instant noodles, which Momofuku Ando had invented in Japan in 1958. Although instant ramen is now associated with cheap, quick student meals, Top Ramen was originally marketed as a premium product when it first went on sale.
