Marlboro is an American brand of cigarettes owned and manufactured by Philip Morris USA within the United States and by Philip Morris International in most territories outside the United States. The brand was introduced in 1924, initially marketed toward women before shifting its marketing toward men during the 1950s, and it went on to become one of the world's most valuable brands and best selling products, widely known for advertising built around the Marlboro Man, a fictional cowboy.
