Fruit Gushers

Fruit Gushers is a Betty Crocker branded fruit snack introduced in 1991, shaped like an acorn with a soft, licorice-like exterior around a liquid center that bursts, or gushes, when bitten. The original boxes sold for $2.19 and held six pouches of nine pieces each, in two flavors, Strawberry Splash and Gushin' Grape. Early reviewers noted the filling oozed rather than gushed, but the snack proved popular, and by 2013 one major publication ranked it the second best fruit snack ever made.
