Eclipse is a breath freshener brand owned by the Wrigley Company, itself a part of Mars, Inc., sold as both chewing gum and mints. It first appeared in Canada under the name Excel in 1991, then launched in the United States in 1999 as Wrigley's first entry into the American pellet gum market, based on the earlier Canadian formula. Eclipse gum is sold in blister packs of 12 pellets, split packs of 18 pellets and Big-E-Pak containers of 60 pellets, while the mints come in an oval prism shape sold in metal and paper containers, and the brand is now sold in markets including the United States, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea and Latvia.
