Dosirac, whose name translates from Korean as lunchbox, is a brand of cup ramyeon, or instant cup noodles, made by the South Korean company Paldo since 1986 and sold in about 30 countries with annual sales above $1.5 billion. Traders from the port of Busan introduced it to Russia in the 1990s, where it was rebranded Doshirak in Cyrillic and became so popular, holding over 60 percent of the Russian instant noodle market, that Russians often use the name generically for instant noodles of any brand. Paldo opened a Russian subsidiary in 2002 to support the brand's growth there, and after an initial rejection it won a 2021 legal case securing trademark registration for Doshirak in Russia.
