Colostrum, also known as foremilk, is the milk produced by the mammary glands of a female mammal in the first few days after giving birth. Most mammals produce it shortly before birth, and it delivers protective antibodies, immune factors and growth components that support a newborn's development and immune function, in both calves and humans.
