Charas

Charas is a cannabis concentrate made by hand-rubbing the resin from live, still-growing cannabis plants, distinguishing it from hashish, which is made from a dead plant. It is traditionally produced across the Indian subcontinent, where wild cannabis grows along the Himalayan foothills of Northern India and serves as an important cash crop for local communities. Charas is made by harvesters rubbing live flowering buds between their palms to collect the sticky resin, and it has been used for thousands of years in the region for medicinal and religious purposes, particularly within Hindu tradition.
