Bamba (snack)

Bamba is an Israeli snack food made of peanut-butter-flavored puffed maize, manufactured by the Osem corporation and launched in 1964; it is produced in Kiryat Gat, Israel. The snack holds about a quarter of the Israeli snack market, and The Washington Post has described it as resembling Cheez Doodles without the cheese. Osem chose the name Bamba because it sounded like baby talk; a similar German product called Erdnussflips appeared slightly earlier, in 1963, but used peanut dust rather than peanut butter as its flavoring.
