A security alarm is a system designed to detect intrusions, such as unauthorized entry, into a building or other area such as a home or school, to protect against burglary, theft or property damage. Examples include personal home systems, neighborhood security alerts, car alarms and prison alarms, and a global industry of manufacturers, installers and monitoring services has grown up around these systems.
