Iron Ore Mining Industry

Iron ores are rocks and minerals from which metallic iron can be economically extracted, usually rich in iron oxides such as magnetite, hematite, goethite, limonite or siderite, and varying in color from dark grey and bright yellow to deep purple and rusty red. Roughly 98 percent of mined iron ore is used for steel production, making iron ore mining a foundational segment of the global materials industry that supplies the steel industry raw input.
