The education services industry, also known as for-profit education or proprietary education, refers to educational institutions that are operated by private, profit-seeking businesses rather than by government or non-profit bodies. For-profit education is common in many parts of the world: it makes up more than seventy percent of the higher education sector in Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines.
