The beekeeping industry is built on the maintenance of bee colonies, commonly kept in artificial beehives in an apiary or bee yard, most often colonies of honey bees of the genus Apis. Beekeepers in the industry collect honey and other hive products such as beeswax, propolis, bee pollen and royal jelly, and also earn income from pollination services for crops, raising queen bees, and producing package bees for sale.
