Friedrich Fritz Hoffmann-La Roche (1868-1920) was a Swiss industrialist who founded the pharmaceutical company F. Hoffmann-La Roche and Co, known today as Roche, in Basel in 1896. Born into a Protestant family and trained in banking and pharmaceuticals, he expanded the companys operations internationally, opening branches across Europe and Asia, and his descendants through his son Emanuel Hoffmann remained involved with the company after his death.
