Perry Brink, given in a 1959 Chicago Tribune account as Washington P. Brink, was the Chicago businessman who launched the firm bearing his name, which became Brink's, the armored transport and cash handling company. The account describes him as a thrift conscious Yankee who came to Chicago from Vermont and bought a horse and buggy, and says that on 5 May 1859 he made his first trip collecting and delivering parcels, baggage and merchandise. The business was incorporated in 1879 as Brink's Express and became the Brink's Chicago City Express company, and in 1891 it made its first money delivery, a payroll carried to the Western Electric company. By its hundredth year the firm was described as the world's largest commercial money-mover.
