David Packard (September 7, 1912 to March 26, 1996) was an American electrical engineer and co-founder, with Bill Hewlett, of Hewlett-Packard in 1939, serving as president from 1947 to 1964, CEO from 1964 to 1968, and chairman of the board from 1964 to 1968 and from 1972 to 1993. He served as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense from 1969 to 1971 during the Nixon administration, and as president of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences from 1976 to 1981. He was a member of the Trilateral Commission and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1988.
