Samuel Frederick Ted Dabney Jr. (May 2, 1937 to May 26, 2018) was an American electrical engineer and the co-founder, alongside Nolan Bushnell, of Atari, Inc. Born in San Francisco, California, he was raised by his father after his parents divorced, studied trade drafting at John A. O'Connell High School of Technology and took his diploma at San Mateo High School, where a math teacher named Walker got him interested in electronics and computing. He is recognized as developing the basics of video circuitry principles that were used for Computer Space and later Pong, one of the first and most successful arcade games.
