Stephen Wolfram

Founder and Executive

Stephen Wolfram, born on 29 August 1959, is a British-American computer scientist, physicist and businessman who works in computer algebra and theoretical physics. He was named a fellow of the American Mathematical Society in 2012. As a businessman he is the founder and chief executive of the software company Wolfram Research, where he works as chief designer of Mathematica and the Wolfram Alpha answer engine. Wolfram Mathematica, the company's flagship technical computing program, was first released on June 23, 1988.
