Alan Michael Sugar, Baron Sugar (born 24 March 1947) is a British businessman, entrepreneur and television personality, born in Clapton, Hackney, England. He began the consumer electronics company Amstrad in 1968 and in 2007 sold his remaining interest in the company in a deal to BSkyB for 125 million pounds. He was also the chairman and part-owner of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club from 1991 to 2001, and according to the Sunday Times Rich List he became a billionaire in 2015. He is the host and boss of the BBC Television reality competition series The Apprentice, and was elevated to the House of Lords in 2009.
