Procter & Gamble completed its 57 billion dollar acquisition of The Gillette Company in October 2005, then the largest deal in consumer-products history, bringing brands including Gillette razors, Duracell batteries and Oral-B into P&G's portfolio. The merger, championed by investor Warren Buffett who was a major Gillette shareholder, created the world's largest consumer-goods company by revenue at the time and was widely cited as a model of successful large-scale brand integration.
