In 2006 The Walt Disney Company acquired Pixar Animation Studios in an all-stock deal valued at roughly 7.4 billion dollars, ending a long distribution partnership between the two companies. The deal brought Pixar's leaders Steve Jobs, Ed Catmull and John Lasseter into senior creative and governance roles at Disney, and reshaped the direction of Disney's own animation studio in the years that followed.
