AT&T completed its 85 billion dollar acquisition of Time Warner in June 2018, after winning a high-profile U.S. Department of Justice antitrust challenge to block the vertical merger of a distribution company with a content producer. The combined company, briefly renamed WarnerMedia, was spun off again just three years later in 2022 when AT&T merged it with Discovery, Inc. to form Warner Bros. Discovery, effectively reversing the deal.
