A2A S.p.A. is an Italian multiutility company that generates, distributes and markets renewable energy, electricity, gas, integrated water supply and waste management services. It was formed on January 1, 2008 through the merger of three northern Italian municipal utilities, AEM and AMSA of Milan and ASM of Brescia, whose own histories reach back to 1880, 1907 and 1908. The company operates mainly across northern Italy with some energy production reaching into Greece, and the municipalities of Milan and Brescia each still hold a 25 percent stake. A2A trades on the Borsa Italiana as a member of the FTSE MIB index.
