LyondellBasell Industries N.V. is a multinational chemical company headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Houston, Texas, formed by the 2007 merger of the American company Lyondell Chemical and the Netherlands-based Basell Polyolefins, itself formed earlier from the polyolefins businesses of BASF and Shell. It is one of the largest plastics, chemicals and oil refining companies in the world, a major global producer of polyethylene and polypropylene plastics.
