Ecolab Inc. is an American company headquartered in Saint Paul, Minnesota, founded in 1923 by Merritt Osborn as Economics Laboratory to sell cleaning products to the hospitality industry, and renamed Ecolab in 1986. It supplies water treatment, hygiene and infection-prevention products and services to customers in food service, hospitality, healthcare, industrial and other sectors, and greatly expanded its water-treatment business with its 2011 merger with Nalco Holding Company.
