Akzo Nobel N.V. is a Dutch multinational paints and coatings company headquartered in Amsterdam. It was formed in 1994 through the merger of the Swedish company Nobel Industries, tracing its explosives heritage to Alfred Nobel, and the Dutch chemicals group AKZO, itself the product of earlier mergers among Dutch chemical, fiber and pharmaceutical businesses. Akzo Nobel today focuses on decorative and performance paints and coatings sold under brands including Dulux, having divested its specialty chemicals division in 2018 and its pharmaceutical business, Organon, to concentrate on the coatings business.
