Kobe Steel, Ltd. is a major Japanese steel manufacturer headquartered in Chuo-ku, Kobe, marketed under the unified brand name Kobelco. The company has the lowest proportion of steel operations of any major Japanese steelmaker and is organized as a conglomerate of three divisions: Materials, Machinery and Power. Its materials division holds a high market share in wire rods and aluminium materials for transport equipment, its machinery division in screw compressors, and its power division operates one of Japan's largest wholesale power supply businesses. The company is listed on the Tokyo and Nagoya stock exchanges, where its stock is a Nikkei 225 component, and as of March 2022 it had 201 subsidiaries and 50 affiliated companies across Japan, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.
