Intel Corporation is an American semiconductor company founded in 1968 by Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, headquartered in Santa Clara, California. It introduced the Intel 4004, one of the first commercially available microprocessors, in 1971, and went on to dominate the market for x86 processors that power the large majority of personal computers for decades. Co-founder Gordon Moore's observation that the number of transistors on a chip tends to double roughly every two years became known as Moore's Law.
