Adobe Inc. is an American software company headquartered in San Jose, California, founded in 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke, former Xerox PARC researchers, initially to commercialize their PostScript page-description language for printers. It went on to create the Portable Document Format (PDF) and creative software including Photoshop and Illustrator, now delivered largely through its subscription-based Creative Cloud service.
