Ropes and Gray is an American multinational law firm headquartered in the Prudential Tower in Boston, founded in 1865 by Harvard Law School graduates John Codman Ropes and John Chipman Gray. The firm serves corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, universities and healthcare organizations, with particular strength in alternative asset management, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, life sciences regulation, data privacy and cybersecurity. As of 2025 it employed about 1,600 attorneys across 16 offices in the United States, Asia and Europe, reporting revenue of roughly 3.737 billion dollars that year.
