Dallas, Garland and Northeastern Railroad

The Dallas, Garland and Northeastern Railroad is a short line freight railroad in North Texas, created in 1992 when Rail-Tex announced it as a 62-mile line and now owned by Genesee and Wyoming. Headquartered in Garland, Texas, it operates over 170 miles of standard gauge track across three segments: a northern route linking McKinney and Sherman with trackage rights to Denison, an eastern segment connecting Trenton, Greenville and Garland, and a western segment running through Dallas, Carrollton and Lake Dallas. It interchanges with all three Class I carriers serving the region, BNSF, CPKC and Union Pacific, and in 1999 expanded by leasing an additional 89 miles of track from Union Pacific and Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
