Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad

The Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, commonly nicknamed the Katy, was a Class I railroad company in the United States that operated from 1870 to 1988, with its last headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Its predecessor was established in 1865 as the Southern Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad and grew into an extensive network serving Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri, becoming the first railroad to enter Texas from the north; at the end of 1970 it operated 2,623 miles of road and 3,765 miles of track. In 1988 it merged with the Missouri Pacific Railroad, both becoming part of the Union Pacific system.
