Ulster and Delaware Railroad

The Ulster and Delaware Railroad was reorganized in 1875 from the New York, Kingston and Syracuse Railroad and ran from Kingston Point on the Hudson River through New York's Catskill Mountains region to Oneonta. Marketed as the only all rail route to the Catskills, it carried both tourists and freight, including coal from the Delaware and Hudson Canal and local agricultural products, and it peaked in 1913 with 676,000 passengers. The line declined during the Great Depression as road transport took over, was acquired by the New York Central Railroad in 1932, and ended passenger service on March 31, 1954.
