Queen Anne's Railroad

The Queen Anne's Railroad was a railroad that ran between Love Point, Maryland and Lewes, Delaware in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, described as the last major railway built on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It was incorporated in Maryland on February 26, 1894 and organized by local businessmen in Centreville, Maryland, with construction beginning in 1895 and service reaching Queenstown and Denton by July 1896 before the line was extended to Lewes by March 1898. It connected to Baltimore by a Chesapeake Bay ferry and gave access to Cape May, New Jersey and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, before the company ceased to exist on January 28, 1905, when its assets passed to the Maryland, Delaware and Virginia Railway Company.
