Port Reading Railroad

The Port Reading Railroad was a railway company in the United States, incorporated in 1890 and completing its main line in 1892. It ran eastward across Middlesex County, New Jersey, from Port Reading Junction near Manville to a terminal port at Port Reading on the Arthur Kill in Woodbridge Township, connecting with the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the Central Railroad of New Jersey to serve New York area ports. Its line was conveyed to Conrail in 1976 and is today known as the Port Reading Secondary; when Conrail was split between CSX and Norfolk Southern in 1999, the line became part of the jointly owned Conrail Shared Assets Operations.
