Wyandotte Terminal Railroad

The Wyandotte Terminal Railroad was a private industrial short line railroad incorporated in Michigan on 14 September 1904, owned by the Michigan Alkali Company and later its successor BASF Wyandotte Corporation. It was created to provide switching service between the parent company two chemical plants along the Detroit River in Wyandotte, Michigan, roughly four miles apart, running about nine miles of track and connecting with larger carriers including the Michigan Central Railroad, the New York Central, the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad, and the Wyandotte Southern Railway. BASF stopped using the railroad in 1982, switching instead to Conrail and the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad for its switching needs, and formally dissolved the railroad corporate status on 28 March 1983.
