Union Pacific Railroad

Union Pacific Railroad is an American Class I freight railroad headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, chartered by the United States Congress under the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 to build the eastern portion of the first transcontinental railroad. Its construction crews met the Central Pacific Railroad's at Promontory Summit, Utah in 1869, completing the line that first linked the American railroad network coast to coast. Today Union Pacific operates one of the largest freight rail networks in North America, spanning 23 states across the western two-thirds of the United States and serving as a principal carrier for shipping traffic to and from Asia through West Coast ports.
