Lehigh and Hudson River Railway

The Lehigh and Hudson River Railway was a bridge-line freight railroad formally established on April 1, 1882, when the Warwick Valley Railroad joined three previously merged predecessor companies. It operated roughly 97 miles of track across northwestern New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, connecting coal and manufacturing regions to New England via the Poughkeepsie Bridge and interchanging with major carriers at Easton, Pennsylvania and Maybrook, New York. It was the smallest of the six railroads merged into Conrail in 1976, when its independent operations ended.
