The Forest of Dean Central Railway was authorized by an 1856 act of Parliament to connect collieries in the central Forest of Dean, in Gloucestershire, England, to a new dock at Brimspill on the River Severn, opening for goods traffic to Howbeach in 1868 and extending to New Fancy Colliery in 1869 to carry coal and other minerals. It was absorbed by the Great Western Railway on January 1, 1923 and formally closed on August 2, 1949 after its last commercial traffic ran the previous month.
