Mid Kent Railway

The Mid Kent and North Kent Junction Railway was founded in 1855 under the Mid Kent Railway Act to construct a 4.75-mile line in Kent, England between the South Eastern Railway at Lewisham and the Farnborough Extension at Beckenham Junction, which opened on January 1, 1857 under a ten-year operating agreement with the South Eastern Railway. An 1862 extension reached Addiscombe through Elmers End and Woodside. The company was absorbed by the South Eastern Railway in August 1866, and its original Lewisham-to-Elmers End section now forms part of the Hayes line.
