Transcaucasus Railway

The Transcaucasus Railway operated across the South Caucasus from 1865, when service began, reaching Zestaponi by 1871, and continued for 126 years across the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and brief periods of independence until the Soviet Union's dissolution in 1991. Its network crossed present day Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and parts of Anatolia. After 1991 its lines were divided among the successor states and are now run by their own national railways, including Russian Railways, Georgian Railway, Armenian Railway, Azerbaijan Railways and Turkish State Railways.
