Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca

Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) is a railway operator on the Spanish island of Mallorca, running a metre-gauge network of 85 kilometers, including the Palma Metro, across three lines and 29 stations since it began operating in 1994. It connects Palma with towns including Inca, Sa Pobla, Sineu and Manacor, carrying about 4.8 million passengers a year as of 2019 on 1,000 millimeter gauge track. SFM spent 30 million euros electrifying the Palma to Inca line at 1.5 kV DC, completed in 2011, buying new electric multiple units from CAF and selling off the older diesel trains they replaced; a planned extension from Manacor to Arta was halted in 2013 and the trackbed converted into a cycling and pedestrian trail instead.
