It operates primarily in the northern Italian regions of Lombardy and Piedmont and in Canton Ticino in southern Switzerland. The company is listed on the Borsa Italiana, with its main shareholders being the Lombardy Region, Ferrovie dello Stato and Aurelia S.p.A.
