Brink's

Brink's is a security and secure transportation business, best known for armored car services, and for decades the best-known operating unit of a company that was long called The Pittston Company. Brink's began in 1859 as a delivery company and started making payroll deliveries in 1891, growing into the world's largest armored-car operator, serving private businesses, banks, the Federal Reserve and United States government mints. Pittston, created in 1930 out of a coal and railroad group, bought a stake in Brink's in 1956 and completed its purchase in 1962, making it a wholly owned subsidiary that later expanded into air courier services and into France, Brazil and Israel. Pittston changed its own name to The Brink's Company in 2003 to signal its focus on business and security services, after selling off its coal business. Its other units then included BAX Global freight and Brink's Home Security.
