Archion is a Japanese holding company set up to take full ownership of the truck makers Mitsubishi Fuso, Hino and Rizon Trucks, following a 2025 merger agreement. It was established in Japan on 2 June 2025 and became operational on 1 April 2026 to match the Japanese fiscal year, with Daimler Truck and Toyota, the parents of Fuso and Hino respectively, each owning 25 percent. The merger was delayed from 2024 by concern that Hino could be liable in the United States for fraudulently certifying its engines emissions, and by slow regulatory approval in Japan and Southeast Asia. Truck production is to be consolidated into three Japanese factories at Kawasaki, Koga and Ota, while the Fuso, Hino and Rizon brands and corporate operations initially stay distinct. Archion intends to expand zero-emissions vehicles, including hydrogen-powered ones, and both Hino and Fuso have battery-electric programs.
