Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, known as MFTBC and doing business as Mitsubishi Fuso or simply Fuso, is a Japanese manufacturer of trucks and buses headquartered in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. The Fuso brand traces back to 1932, when the first B46 bus was built at the Kobe Works of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, a predecessor of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and the name comes from the Chinese term fusang for a sacred tree at the spot where the sun rises, used to refer to Japan itself. The truck and bus operations passed to Mitsubishi Motors when it was formed with Chrysler in 1970, and the present corporation was established in 2003 when that division was spun off from Mitsubishi Motors. DaimlerChrysler, Mitsubishi Motors and other Mitsubishi companies took 43, 42 and 15 percent of it, and Daimler Truck became its parent. Fuso merged with Hino Motors in 2026 and became a subsidiary of the new holding company Archion.
