Assurant, Inc. is a global provider of risk management products and services headquartered in Atlanta, founded in 1892, with main operating divisions in Global Housing and Global Lifestyle covering specialized insurance such as property, casualty and extended device protection. The company was formerly known as Fortis, Inc. and was spun off from its Dutch and Belgian parent company in 2004 in an initial public offering that raised 1.76 billion dollars, the fourth largest IPO of that year. Assurant currently ranks 325th on the Fortune 500 list of largest United States companies by revenue.
