UBS Group AG is a Swiss multinational investment bank and wealth management firm headquartered in Zurich, formed by the 1998 merger of the Union Bank of Switzerland and the Swiss Bank Corporation, both with roots reaching back into the 19th century. It became the largest bank in Switzerland and one of the largest wealth managers in the world, and in 2023 it took over its longtime domestic rival Credit Suisse in an emergency government-brokered rescue after Credit Suisse's collapse.
