Woodside Energy Group Ltd

Woodside Energy Group Ltd is an Australian oil and gas company headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, the country's largest independent oil and gas producer. It was incorporated in 1954 as Woodside Petroleum, named for the Victorian town where it was first registered, and operated for decades as the developer of the North West Shelf gas project off the Western Australian coast, one of the largest liquefied natural gas ventures in the world. In June 2022 Woodside completed a merger with the petroleum business of the mining company BHP, substantially increasing its scale and renaming itself Woodside Energy shortly afterward. The company remains centered on liquefied natural gas production and export from Australia while also holding oil and gas assets in the United States, Senegal and elsewhere.
