Auchan is a French multinational retail group headquartered in Croix, France, founded in 1961 by Gerard Mulliez and still 95 percent owned by the Mulliez family. The company operates hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores and, as of 2022, employed about 160,000 people across Europe, Asia and Africa with revenue of approximately 32.9 billion euros; as of 2025 the group had announced plans to operate 2,896 stores across 12 countries.
